Question: Dog proof cat feeder

Are there any suggestions for a dog proof cat feeder system? The dog seems to get to the cat food before the cat can and it is only when we are not in the room so we can never really stop him. We try to move the food dish when we are out but sometimes we forget and the dog gets to it first. I have looked up some ideas but they seem way to expensive or with the elevated picket fence feeder I think my dog will still be able to get to the food. We are new to owning a cat it kind of got dropped on us but I was thinking could we use one of the enclosed litter boxes to put his food in water in or will that just confuse him?

We had the same problem so I have now put the food and water for the cat on top of the dryer in our laundry room.

I agree. Put your cat food up on a table or appliance where the cat can jump up and eat, but the dog cannot. Make sure the cat will have plenty of room to eat and lounge around.
