My cat would use it up in one day ...unless it was time based

For a weekend, we just leave out a big bowl of food and water, or ask a neighbor to check in. I would rather do that than rely on some feeder made in China.

No but I am interested in your answers, surely the food would go off unless it was dried biscuits?

No, but we have heard great things about them and are planning on getting one and also one for water too! They sell them at Petco.

We have always used a huge non tipping bowl ( dog food bowl ) and a big bowl of water or one of those watering feeders that uses an old soda bottle. if you are scared about the kitty not having enough water then keep the toilet seat up . just make sure there arent any chemicals in the tank such as bowl cleaners.

I've four cats at home, and i have a auto feeder, though it's not battery operated. filling it up usually lasts about four days for my cats. just be careful where you place it, they do tend to attract ants and other unwanted pests. good luck.

Yes I got the 2 day one (2 of them) and it works great. I just wish it had some way to put the frozen packs in it because in the heat the food isn't so good after the first 3 days. What I have decided to do is FREEZE the can food for the 3ed and 4th days so it is not spoiled. I like the 2 day feeders because they stay open once opened and then the cat can eat the remainder of the food from that dish. Check and see if the one you want to buy has the frozen packs for it. the thing I DIDN'T LIKE about the 5 day feeder is that the V opening is only open for a few hours and then it passes over to the next section. ... and you know how cats are the eat a nibble and then go away and then come back later. So I wanted the food available to the cats for the entire day. You might try the 2 day it might be better... good luck.

Firstly, there are a few of these on the market, offering different things. For a feeder designed to feed over a few days, you can get ones that have a 'cool bag' function, so food is kept cool and doesn't go off as it waits to be served. I have the basic kind, which last a 24/ 48 hour period depending on the time you allocate between feeds - you can set it to turn every 4/ 8/ 12 hours and it has 3 compartments. The feeder itself is great - you fill 3 different compartments with food, and every set period it turns and your cat gets a new supply of food. My first probelm was the fact i put tuna in it - they pulled it apart and managed to open all compartments at once to get to the tuna. lesson learned! Thank god i'd tested it on a day where i wasn't going anywhere...i filled it with tuna, went to work and came home to find it dismantled and all the food gone! However, I had one main big problem with mine - my cats knew when they saw it I wasn't coming home that night, so starved themselves! First time it was used, all went fine. Next time, and all other times afterwards however, I've come home from an overnight away to find all compartments still full of food, and two hungry cats in the house! They assoiciate the sight of it with my absense, so display their unhappiness with not using it. I had to go back to the old fashioned 'get someone to stop in and feed them' method. I would point out that i have very odd cats tho, so this may not apply to all user - in fact I'd say 99% of other users probably disagree with me lol Good luck if you do decide to invest in one.

I had one which worked on a timer and it was great- until the cat learned to pull the top off and eat all the food in one go!!! Still 24 hours famine did him no harm!

You could leave a large bowl of dried Bic's out for over night, with water,(please don't leave the toilet open for them )If they slide in head first .and cant get out!!!!!!.Hopefully your cats can get outside.because nobody has mentioned -Not even you-,Litter trays???.
